'Stitches in Time' - Opening - Collins Barracks

Some  images  from  the  opening  at  Collins  Barracks.  Work  will  be  on  display  until  Tuesday  28th  October. The  work  will  then  go  on  show  in  the  Captains  Room  at  the  Hunt  Museum, Limerick  on  Wednesday  29th  October  until  Wednesday  12th  November.

'Stitches in Time' - Press Release

You are invited to the launch of ‘Stitches in Time: Fashion inspired by the Soldiers & Chiefs Exhibition’ at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, Dublin at 2pm on Saturday 20th September 2014 opened by  LSAD  Graduate  Niamh  Lunny, Head  of  Costume  Design  at the  Abbey  Theatre.
Dress designs inspired by gas-masks, 18th century soldier’s helmets, rifles and a WWI parachute are among a dozen truly amazing garments on display at the National Museum at Collins Barracks.   
The 12 garments, inspired by the Museum’s award-winning exhibition, ‘Soldiers & Chiefs’, were designed and made by a group of creative second year students of the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design at Limerick School of Art & Design  L.I.T.

Limerick’s fashion forte as represented by Eadaoin Ni Drisceoil expresses purposeful creativity,' 
Eadaoin  is  featured  among  the  best  2014  Graduates  in  the  country. She  is currently  working  for Paris  based designer  Sharon  Wachob  as  part  of  the   IFIL  Bursary which  she  was  awarded  in  May at  the LSAD  Graduate  Fashion  Show.

Eadaoin Ni Drisceoil is the recipient of the inaugural Irish Fashion Incubation Limerick Bursary. This is not a student placement but a real job for a capable fashion designer. She will be based in Paris working alongside the highly accomplished international designer Sharon Wauchob who hails from Co Tyrone.
Ni Drisceoil  studied fashion design at Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD), an institution listed in the top fifty fashion colleges in the world. Winning the IFIL prize here, in competition with twenty-six other graduating …

'Stitches in Time'

‘Stitches in Time’ is a collaborative project between the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Art and History and Limerick School of Art and Design – Limerick Institute of Technology (LSAD-LIT). On display are 12 garments designed and made by second year students of the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design at LSAD-LIT, inspired by uniforms and other artefacts on display in the Soldiers & Chiefs exhibition at Collins Barracks.
The  work  is  currently  on  display  until  the  end  of  October. It  will then  be  exhibited  in  the  Hunt  Museum,  Limerick  in  November  as  part  of  Design  Week  and  Limerick  City  of  Culture.

2014 Graduate Caroline Martin Finalist in Dublin Fashion Festival Young Designer of the Year

Caroline  has  been  selected  alongside  11  other  designers who  are getting the opportunity to publicly exhibit their creations in the Powerscourt Centre in the run up to the festival, combined with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in spectacular catwalk show outside Bank of Ireland on College Green on Thursday 4th September,

Along with the coveted title prize, the package includes a fashion portfolio shoot with Barry McCall and cutting edge gadgets from Microsoft Mobile devices including the Lumia 1020 with 41mp camera and Carl Zeiss lens.
